Job Overview

Cityfurnish is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Furniture Architect who will be responsible for end-to-end furniture design, development, and costing, along with a strong understanding of interior aesthetics and space planning.

The ideal candidate should be able to conceptualize, design, and execute furniture that is functional, durable, cost-efficient, and aligned with modern interior trends, especially keeping in mind rental usage and high durability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Furniture Design & Concept Development

Design innovative and functional furniture products aligned with current market trends.

Develop concepts from sketch to final product, ensuring usability and aesthetics.

Create designs optimized for durability, reusability, and ease of maintenance.

Product Development & Execution

Work closely with vendors and internal teams to convert designs into production-ready products.

Oversee sampling, prototyping, and product development cycles.

Ensure product quality, structural strength, and finish standards.

Costing & Material Planning

Prepare detailed costing for each product, including:

Raw materials

Manufacturing costs

Logistics and installation costs

Optimize designs to ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality.

Interior Design & Space Understanding

Apply interior design principles to ensure furniture aligns with different space requirements.

Suggest layout improvements and furniture combinations for better space utilization.

Keep track of design trends, customer preferences, and usability patterns.

Technical Drawings & Documentation

Create detailed CAD drawings and technical specifications.

Maintain proper documentation for design, dimensions, and materials.

Vendor & Site Coordination

Coordinate with vendors, carpenters, and manufacturers for execution.

Conduct site visits to ensure proper installation and resolve on-ground issues.

Product Improvement

Analyze existing products and suggest improvements in:

Design

Durability

Cost

Customer experience

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design / Interior Design / Architecture / Product Design.

1–4 years of relevant experience in furniture design or interior-related roles.

Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication techniques, and furniture construction.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other design tools.

Good understanding of costing and budgeting.
